New Interns Can’t Believe They Match

Posted by on 8/7/12 at 02:30pm

Say hello to our newest interns, Oliver Adamson and Patrick Burnham! Patrick graduated from the University of Houston in Texas where he grew up. Apparently indecisive, his favorite Lake|Flato project is “all of them” but he is destined to be “the” Georgia Tech intern. Furniture-making and cooking are two great skills of his – you are Click to Read More

A Nod to Tie Tuesdays

Posted by on 7/25/12 at 05:57pm

Some of our dapper young* men sported their ties this Tuesday in recognition of the intern who brought it to us: Thomas Johnston. He along with Nathan Geller (yearning for a different tie) and Kristin Walsh are saying their final goodbyes this Friday. We will miss them but are excited to see their successes in graduate school and beyond. Thanks for being great elements of the Lake|Flato team! Click to Read More

Posted by on 7/16/12 at 11:35am

Last week we had our first life-drawing class here at Lake|Flato! Starting with a longer 8 minute pose, we gradually worked our way down to 10 seconds. The goal of this kind of exercise is to capture the essence and overall gesture of what you see. Below is a sampling of the drawings folks created. We will be doing this every week, space and schedule permitting. Hope to see you next time! Click to Read More

Today at the office we bid a fond farewell to Cameron Smith’s 1990 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. The car has been a fixture of retro-grouch coolness in the LF garage for the past seven years. Click to Read More

In recent years, the June event in the Papay’s backyard has come to represent the official start of the Lake|Flato summer season. For those of us approaching middle age it also serves as an annual reminder of how bloated and hairy we are becoming. Click to Read More

“Gus drives a Jeep which makes him a little like John Byrd. Gus also wears a hat which makes him a little like Matt Morris. He went to the University of Washington which makes him a little bit like Matt Wallace, and he’s a great guy to have on your team…which means he is nothing like Chris Krajcer.” -Steve Raike Click to Read More
